Nightingale was a former kittypet and soldier of Adder's Fangs, before joining the journeying cats on their way to find the cure for the chilling disease.

Overview[]

Nightingale was born as a kittypet.

She was a recent addition to her owner's collection; a gift from another cat-breeder. As such, Nightingale was kept away from the other cats, near the back, to be slowly introduced to them so that they would not reject her. Most of the time she was kept in a back room in her cage.

During the fire, the door to her room was closed; her owner couldn't get all the way back to save her, and was forced to leave her and help her other cats. Nightingale was saved by the thick door which blocked the fire until help arrived; however, she inhaled an immense amount of smoke, which permanently scarred her throat, nearly killing her. Firefighters managed to get her out of the building, but her cage was left on the street as they tried to combat the flames that were heading towards the forest. Rook returned and helped her, and together they fled.

Detailed description[]

Nightingale is a fluffy,[5] thick, and wispy-furred, white she-cat. She has a dark chocolate-brown tail, toes, ears, and a patch over her nose, with paler brown socks on her front legs,[3] and wide,[5] sky-blue eyes. She wears a dirty, sky-blue bow around her neck.[3]

Personality[]

Because Nightingale cannot speak, there isn't much known about her; she's slightly shy, but strong enough to help Rook in his ambushing tactics. She can also be brave when she needs to be, such as when she came to Rook's aid when he was pinned by Sage and Thistlethorn. She seems to exert a calming influence on him, and is more rational than he is despite her muteness.[4]
